In couples therapy, the focus is on the relationship between two people rather than the perceptions, thoughts, or symptoms of an individual. The goal of couples therapy is to improve the relationship through improving communication skills. Often, couples enter therapy with particular disagreements and seek my help in solving those specific issues. Therapy can help you with those problems, but can also provide you with the skills you need to solve your disagreements peacefully and effectively. By developing those skills and practicing them, you will be better able to face and meet future challenges as a couple.

Couples who may benefit from therapy include couples who...

  • Feel they cannot express themselves effectively
  • Are considering marriage
  • Are considering separation/divorce
  • Are planning a pregnancy, currently expecting, or have recently had a baby
  • Find themselves getting angry at each other over "little things"
  • Are having more frequent or violent arguments
